Anna Newman – Director, Editor, Producer
Anna Newman is an award winning filmmaker and documentary photographer, specializing in imagery related to artists and innovators.
A computer scientist by training and an artist by nature, Anna worked for major software companies (DreamWorks Animation, Adobe, Intuit) and holds an MA in music; this background enables her to honor both the technical and the artistic aspects of imagery.
Anna’s films screened at Sundance New Frontier, Cinequest, numerous indie film festivals and conventions, and curated museum exhibits in the US and abroad.
Her photographs have been published in the online edition of the New York Times, TechCrunch, selected for national student art competitions, and published in local Bay Area media.
Anna plays French horn in the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, and is currently working on a long term photography project about gentrification in her once working class suburban neighborhood, now home to Facebook. A native of Santa Cruz, California, Anna lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and a polydactyl cat, Mr. Toes.
