The Posey tube is one of two parallel tunnels connecting the cities of Oakland and Alameda. Posey carries Oakland-bound traffic under the Estuary, while the Webster tube (built in 1963) carries traffic to Alameda. Named for County Surveyor George A. Posey, the tunnel was opened in 1928 and is the second-oldest underwater vehicular tunnel in the United States.
