The Item Row widget displays up to 1-5 exhibit items in a horizontal row (items must be in the exhibit, whether from the SDR or other source). Images included in this widget will not display in an embedded image viewer. This may be preferred for aesthetic reasons. Instead, the exhibit visitor can easily view an image in greater detail by clicking on it, which will bring them to the item record view, or show page. Visitors may also click on an optional ZPR (Zoom-Pan) link below each image in the item row, if that functionality is enabled by the exhibit creator.
Accessing the Item Row widget
To use the Item Row widget on a Home page, Feature page, or About page, navigate to your dashboard and select the page you wish to edit from the Curation sub-menu. You can also get to the same editing interface by clicking the red edit button at the top right corner of a Home page, Feature page, or About page. For more information, see Selecting and Formatting Widgets.
Once you are editing the page, click on a grey "+" to reveal a new undefined widget. Next, click on the red "+" to the left of the widget to open up the widget menu, then choose the Item Row widget from the list of Exhibit Item Widgets. You should see the options in the image below.
After you have selected the Item Row widget, you may find and add items by entering an image title or a druid.
The widget displays from 1-5 exhibit items in a horizontal row. The exhibit creator does not have direct control over the placement of the images; the orientation of the images is determined algorithmically. Please substitute images until the desired effect is obtained.
You can display up to two metadata elements as primary and secondary captions for each item.
You can also include a heading and descriptive text, which you can choose to display on the left or right side of the image(s).
Please note that if captions or text for an image are desired, they can also be added below or above the item row widget, using the Text widget. This may be preferred for aesthetic/display reasons.
Finally you can opt to include a ZPR (Zoom-Pan) link for each image. If an exhibit visitor click on this link, they are provided with a pop-up window in which they can zoom in and out on an image, or pan around an image.
Be sure to click on the Save changes button to save your work.
