The hands of a housekeeper at a Class A hotel show the heavy toll the work puts on the bodies of the women who make the beds and clean the rooms. This is one of several photographs taken during union contract negotiations in 1999, to show hotel operators that making beds with the new thick mattresses took a toll on the hands and bodies of workers.
